About Alrinthea

Emmy Award nominee Alrinthea Carter is a South Carolina girl who was raised in Germany as part of a military family. After graduating from Winthrop University, Alrinthea moved to South Korea for a year, becoming a preschool teacher for Air Force children in Osan. After learning more kids’ songs than she ever expected, Alrinthea moved back to South Carolina to attend graduate school at Clemson University, which set the stage for a career advising Clemson students for 16 years.

Her tenure at Clemson ended when she was staffed as a writer on the Emmy-winning Comedy Variety series “A Black Lady Sketch Show” on HBO, created by comedy giant Robin Thede. Alrinthea was nominated for “Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series” alongside the ABLSS writing staff.

After her time at A Black Lady Sketch Show, Alrinthea had the delightful opportunity to write for the iconic and critically acclaimed children’s series “Yo Gabba Gabba Land!” on AppleTV+, where she got to write episodes about loving yourself, accepting help, and how to have a day of play with your friends. She is particularly proud of creating The Glimmer Woods, a region of Yo Gabba Gabba Land full of mirror trees.

She then took a creative leap into Documentary Production when she was enlisted by the Kennedy/Marshall Company as a Story Producer for “Carrying,” an intimate look into the lives of two women in Alabama who are placing their babies for adoption. She learned how to work with directors and editors to develop cohesive narratives and story arcs, and offer creative input during the post-production process.

As a writer, Alrinthea is drawn to stories centering women as they navigate their second (or third) coming-of-age stories after the age of 30, comedic horror, reckless dramedy, and silly and educational stories for children, usually inspired by her niece and nephew. She also loves to explore the dynamics of found family, second chances, and awkward love. With an encyclopedic knowledge of sitcoms, she can always find an episode of The Golden Girls for any situation.

An improviser for 13 years, Alrinthea has performed across the country and is a highly sought-after improv instructor and coach. Alrinthea is also a photographer, with an artistic focus on the abandoned spaces of the American South. Widely published and featured in Art Galleries, she was recently noted in The Hollywood Reporter and gave a TED Talk focusing on the connection between her abandoned space photography and living with depression.

Her patron saint is and will always be Prince.

Alrinthea is represented by Jermaine Johnson with Zero Gravity Management.
